Zainab MalikResearch Director
Zainab joined the British Council’s Education Intelligence team in 2012, after working in research and programme development at the University of Pennsylvania. She specialises in data analysis as well as individualisation of strategies. Zainab has authored research on a myriad of topics in education policy and the internationalisation of education and has presented and advised on market intelligence to stakeholders globally. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Relations from Colgate University and a master’s degree with distinction in International Education Development from the University of Pennsylvania.
Anna Esaki-SmithEditorial Director
Anna oversees the production of Education Intelligence research reports focusing on student mobility and country economic indicators that could portend a favourable environment for education development and investment. She specializes in conducting qualitative research of students, university professors and administrators. She manages the strategic positioning of the team’s high profile research launches and global media relations. Anna received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and a graduate degree in journalism from Columbia University.
Terry LeeMarketing and Coordination Manager
As global marketing manager, Terry helps the team formulate annual marketing strategies and guides service and product development. He joined the British Council Hong Kong as a member of the education team, and was responsible for development of UK alumni activities in Hong Kong. He has a Master of Business degree from Newcastle University in Australia and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sydney.
Maarya SaidiResearch Analyst
Maarya joined the Education Intelligence team in mid-2016 as a research analyst. With more than ten years of research experience in the UK and Hong Kong, she specialises in quantitative and qualitative data analysis as well as research design. She has also authored several reports and peer-reviewed journal articles within different areas of policy. Maarya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the American University of Beirut, a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Essex and a PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Billy NganAssistant Manager, Digital Projects
Billy joined the Education Intelligence team in 2015 as assistant manager. He is responsible for managing the team's digital platform. He is also the designer of the team. Billy graduated from the University of Hong Kong.
