This report explores what the higher education landscape will look like over the next ten years by using projections for tertiary-aged populations and household wealth to forecast tertiary enrolments and outbound mobility. In International student mobility to 2027: Local investment, global outcomes, demographic and economic factors are evaluated, along with other drivers of student mobility, in order to reflect on the current state of the higher education sector and to anticipate what might be ahead. This year, the dampening effect of improved domestic provision on outbound students grows more pronounced and is forecast as contributing significantly to slowing the growth rate of mobility for the period leading to 2027.
